TRAINING

City & Guilds 6048 Vehicle A/C Service & Repair
2 Days
The course is run from a carefully laid out and scheduled syllabus which starts by covering the importance of safety, COSHH regulations and the environmental protection acts related to refrigerants, (ask for sample syllabus) before progressing to the refrigeration cycle and the principles of refrigeration. The first part of the course is held in a classroom environment and is theory based. Students will work with the instructor from the course notes, section by section. When it is clear that all students fully understand the section, the course will move on, students are encouraged to ask questions at all times. We maintain a light and friendly teaching environment where students will feel confident and ready to learn.

The practical part of the course is carried out using our own design of training rig, and a CPS CR 400E recovery machine. Students are encouraged to carry out all operations individually and are assessed while doing so, this practice should thus ensure that all essential knowledge and safe working practices have been adhered to. At the end of each of the two days, we always open a Q&A session to provide the students with a chance to fill in any gaps, and retrace any part of the course that they are still unsure of.

City & Guilds 2078 Safe handling of refrigerants.
2 days, 1 Day, 4 Hr assessment only.
It will be a legal requirement after July 2007 for all engineers who handle CFC or HCFC refrigerants to hold a refrigerant handling qualification. We therefore recommend that all of our students are assessed for the C&G 2078 certificate. After completing the 2078 training, students undergo an assessment which comprises of a practical and oral assessment taking approximately one hour. Please note that the fee for the C&G 2078 is not included in the 6048 course fee. Engineers holding the 2078 certificate can register with the Air Conditioning Refrigeration Industry Board as a qualified refrigerant handler.

Non experienced refrigeration engineers just requiring 2078 only, will require 2 days for the accreditation course and assessment. Engineers who have worked to some degree on refrigeration systems and have minimum experience should only require one day for training and assessment. In this case self-study notes will be sent out prior to the course. It is possible for very experienced engineers to obtain their 2078 by assessment only. We send out a self-study a pack for the engineer to work from; they then attend the assessment only taking approx. 2 - 4 hours. This reduces engineers down time. We can also arrange to carry out training and assessment at your premises for 4 or more engineers. Fees vary from £165 - £199 + VAT. To discuss further prior experience for the relevant courses or for more information please contact Jules Freeman on 023 80261188.

Service Equipment
We are able to offer the same service equipment that the students have used in training, which will obviously make the transition from training into real working practices much easier. We use service tools and equipment from the CPS range including the CPS MACH 1 automatic recovery/recharging machine. If a customer wishes to purchase the MACH 1, their staff will also be trained on this unit at no extra charge.

Course Fees
The 6048 course is run over a two-day period and is chargeable at £345.00 per student. This fee does not include overnight accommodation, or the C&G 2078 assessment fee which is chargeable at £165.00 per student regardless of duration. Tea and coffee is available through out the day, a basic lunch is also included for each day. All course fees include student notes
And City & Guilds accreditation fees.
